Her swollen womb
bounced like a balloon
with water inside.
She wondered if there would be pain
during labor before the first cries of birth
burst forth from between her legs!
Would it be a girl?
Or would it be a boy?
If it was a girl,
would she be like her?
And if it was a boy,
would he be a brute like his father,
who raped her nine months ago,
when they captured her village,
and killed her family?
